Seton Smith (b. Newark, New Jersey, 1955) has been working as an artist for over 30 years. After studying photography and art history at the Museum School and the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, she has split her time between Paris and New York. She has made sculptures, public projects, and installations, but focused primarily on photography, exploring the psychological and social aspects of objects and architecture. In recent years she has turned her attention to the vernacular architecture of America, particularly houses. Her work can be seen in the collections of museums and institutions worldwide, including the Centre George Pompidou, Paris; The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Los Angeles County Museum, L.A.; the Musee d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, and the International Center of Photography, New York.
