“As to the particular nature of my art: in making what I find necessary to make, I thus seem to (and thereby wish to) portray a cryptic, vehement, and often tragic image of man. This is not necessarily the “everyday” image but introspections into some aspects of a more ultimate realization of role. I admire Greek tragedy, such writers as Kafka and Joyce. I seek images perhaps powerful and awesome, at times eroded and isolated, perhaps anomalous – an ambiguity of tradition and the irrational that yet resonates of common experience.”
